Paper details

All photographs are printed on Ilford Galerie Gold Fibre Silk fine art baryta 310gsm paper.

ILFORD GALERIE GOLD FIBRE SILK has a baryta (barium sulphate) coated layer underneath the ink receiving layer equivalent to the structure of a traditional fibre photographic paper base. The media offers enhanced definition, extended tonal range, and excellent archival properties. Coated fibre papers have a unique look and feel, which has become a standard among art photographers worldwide over the course of more than a century.

Print longevity

In terms of rendering, archiving, consistency, light stability and paper quality digital printing is now easily on a par with 'silver' printing. Simon prints with an Epson PRO 3800 A2 Fine-Art Ultrachrome K3 pigment-based printer at 5760 x 1440 optimized dpi. Estimated display life is 85-110 years (check out Wilhelm Imaging Research for more technical information) before any noticeable change. For best longevity prints should be overmatted and mounted under glass. They should not be displayed in direct sunlight.

Conditions of use and storage

Use and store ideally at a relative humidity of 35 to 65% and a temperature of 10 to 30°C (50° to 86°F).
Use care in handling printed material, as the surface is susceptible to abrasion.
Store papers in archive quality envelopes, folders, and boxes.
Use only archive grade tapes and glues for mounting and framing.
